Stroke and Turn Officials needed
Hello Swim Family,
Welcome to the 2025 Waterton Waverunners! Thank you to Gio and Jenna for running our fantastic summer swim team, again. As you know volunteering is an important part of helping our program. There are many voluntary positions that need to be filled by the parents, so the swim meets operate efficiently and in accordance with the league rules. Thank you for being a part of making this a wonderful experience for our children.
I am recruiting for the Stroke and Turn Judge positions. This position usually requires knowledge of the strokes, processes, and procedures that go along with a meet. However, if you are a newer parent and are interested in learning, I would encourage you to consider it. This is the only volunteer position that requires specific training. The training is online, at your own pace, laid back but informative, and the test is not difficult. You do not have to volunteer for this position if you complete the training. Although if you complete the training, it gives the team flexibility if something unfortunate happens. Many of us volunteer in other positions too. The league always requires 2 S&T Judges from each team during the meet. We usually have 4 from our team per meet, 2 each half.
Stroke and Turn Officials have one of the best views pool side when watching our young athletes perform. Our roles are integral with helping the Coaches and Swimmers find areas where they need to improve. Our position requires being non-biased and professional during the meets. However, we are all volunteers attempting to do our best and that is all I ask, so cheer on your kids when they are swimming! Remember, benefit of any doubt always goes to the swimmer.
If this is your first year and you would like to shadow someone first, that can be arranged, and I would encourage it.
Also, there is starter training if you would like to qualify. I am always happy to split a shift, provide training, or receive backup from my peers.
If you have any interest or any questions please email, call, or text me. Let me know your swimming experience and if you have done S&T before. I will send out links to the training to the individual who contact me when it becomes available.
Thank you and Lets go Waverunners!,
