Gwinnett County Swim League (GCSL) County Championship Meet
For our new families, our team is part of the largest recreational swim league organization in the state of Georgia, the Gwinnett County Swim League. The league organizes a county championship meet each year at Georgia Tech's aquatic center. This is one of the largest swim meets of the year in the entire state and the southeast, as we are an organization of over 5,000 swimmers.
To qualify for the county championship, your swimmer must get a Top 50 time for at least one event in their age group and gender. Another way to be invited to attend is to be needed in one of our relays for their age group and gender, as each team can bring two relays to compete.
This is the reason for posting the Top 75 report each week from the GCSL. Since each swimmer can only swim in 3 individual events and up to two relays for that meet, many swimmers who qualify for multiple events get to drop out of some events. Then, swimmers are pulled from the Top 75 and Top 100 to fill the 50 swimmers in each event.
We will start getting an idea of who will be out of town in our RSVP for County, so we can know who we will have for our relays. As always, we build relays using the computer system based best times.
The meet is on July 11-13, so if you know you will be out of town, please let us know on the County Championship RSVP. Please also let us know if you will be in town.
We look forward to seeing everyone this week to prepare to travel to the Parkview Poolcats for our second swim meet!
