Waterton Waverunners - Weekly Update

Waverunners,

Thank you for all that you do! Just a few reminders and announcements for this week:

Senior/USA/Swim Across America Week

This week’s meet is our last home meet of the year, which means it is our SENIOR MEET! We will be celebrating our seniors at the end of the meet with our traditional senior swim, so make sure to stick around!

Additionally, we will be hosting the league’s Swim Across America fundraiser, which is an amazing organization that collects donations to benefit local cancer research and treatment! Our meet theme will be USA (red, white & blue) so make sure to come out decked out in your America gear! We will be accepting donations through the link below. Please make sure to select our team, Waterton, so we can track our progress in the fundraiser!

RSVP for Meet #3

Please make sure to RSVP for this week’s meet no later than tomorrow morning, as Coach Jenna will start seeding the meet then.

As for volunteering, we have had an amazing turnout for volunteering! This is just a reminder that each family must have their shifts agreed to at registration done by the end of the regular season or else they forfeit their $100 deposit for volunteering. We already have over half of our Waverunners that have fulfilled this requirement, so please make sure to both sign up AND fulfill your volunteer shifts!

Pre-Swim Meet Prep

As we are well into the season, I want to remind parents of a few items that go a long way for making our meets run smoothly that can be done prior to swim meets:

  1. Use & print the digital heat sheet I send out each week to both write down your swimmer’s events on their wrist with your sharpie (as shown in each of our meet information emails) and to use at the meet to track the events. This way our coaches and volunteers can know where your swimmers are supposed to be AND more importantly, your swimmer knows what is coming up :). We used to sell the heat sheet, but in an effort to make it accessible to all parents, we now send it out so that this step can be completed at home.
  2. Download and sign into the SwimTopia mobile app. This app gives you the events your swimmers is signed up for by coach, lets your RSVP and sign up for jobs, and shows results after the meet. This is a great way to avoid needing to print out the heat sheet! Additionally, you can get the premium version of the app for live updates during the swim meet! You simply use the email you used at registration, and if you don’t remember or know your password, simply follow the “forgot password” button to get started.
  3. Double check your swimmer’s gear. Making sure their goggles are tight enough and that they are capped up prior to getting to the blocks is a small step that goes a long way!
Ribbons
We are going to continue to do ribbons a week behind on Fun Friday. If you cannot attend Fun Friday, we will have the ribbon box at practice for you to pick them up. Please make sure to leave the ribbon boxes in good shape by putting your folder neatly back in place and not using wet/sticky hands to get the ribbons, it is a chore to get that together for our swimmers :).
As always, I will send a pre-meet email with all of the info for this week once the meet is fully seeded by both teams. Let’s have a great week Waverunners!
